Coming from a legal family, he joined the family practice in 1988, when it staff complement was less than 6, and immediately proceeded with building and developing untapped areas of practice in Corporate law, Fiduciary relationships, Maritime and Aviation law. He was quickly elected Managing Partner and Head of the International/Corporate Practice of the firm in 1994, positions he held until 2008. By the time he left the firm in December 2008, it was one of the largest legal practices on the island.
In 2009, he became joint Managing Partner of the newly formed law firm of Fenech Farrugia Fiott Legal, an open architecture legal firm formed by leading professionals in their field, and leads the firm’s substantial Corporate/Commercial, Aviation, Financial Services and Fiduciary relationships practice departments.
Dr. Fenech is often a speaker at conferences, and lectures at the University of Malta in Insurance law, the law of Trusts and Fiduciary relationships, as well as Ship Registration & Finance. He is also a Director of a number of companies, including the corporate and professional services companies associated with the firm. He is a member of and past President of the Malta Maritime Law Association and Maritime Law Advisory Council, Chairman of the Caravaggio Foundation as well as Board member on other foundations and initiatives connected with creativity, the arts and their application to business and entrepreneurship.
