Telecommunications and Media

The telecommunications sector is a highly dynamic market, currently regulated by a suite of EU Directives transposed into local law through several legislative instruments, mainly the Electronic Communications (Regulation) Act (Cap.399) and its subsidiary legislation, the Electronic Communications Networks and Services (General) Regulations (S.L.399.28). In December 2018, the EU has adopted Directive (EU) 2018/1972 establishing the European Electronic Communications Code, which will consolidate and enhance the legal framework in the sector. This Code will need to be transposed into local law by 21 December 2020.
