Dr Theresienne Mifsud joined the firm as partner in January 2019, to lead the Telecommunications and Media Unit. Her former role as Head of Legal and Regulatory Affairs at Melita Limited for over ten years has gained her specialised knowledge in all matters governing the regulation of electronic communications, media and technology.

As in-house counsel for a leading quad player telecoms operator in Malta, Theresienne was responsible for managing all in-house legal and regulatory matters, such as contract drafting and review, software licensing, IP transit and connectivity and content licensing agreements. She also assisted the company in the launch of the mobile business and other key projects, spectrum acquisition, and due diligence processes along the years.

In her role she was also the main liaison with the Maltese national regulatory authority governing the telecoms sector in Malta, the Malta Communications Authority (MCA), and other authorities regulating the telecoms and media sector, which include the Broadcasting Authority (BA), the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority (MCCAA) and the Information and Data Protection Commissioner (IDPC).

Prior to her role at Melita Limited, Theresienne was also a part-time lecturer on business law and credit management law at the Malta Association of Credit Management (MACM) and a case officer with the government department responsible for consumer and competition matters, the Consumer and Competition Division (now part of the MCCAA). Her role within the Division was the handling of consumer investigations and complaints, advising government on proposed European legislation, and drafting amendments to local law in order to transpose EU Directives and implement EU Regulations in the consumer and competition fields.

Theresienne graduated Doctor of Laws from the University of Malta in 2002 and obtained a Magister Juris in European and Comparative Law by the University of Malta in 2006.

During her free time, Theresienne enjoys reading, cinema and travelling with her family.
